Description:
The posterior mediastinum.This image shows a sagittal view of the mediastinum. The posterior mediastinum is part of the inferior mediastinum together with the anterior and middle mediastinum. The superior, anterior, middle and posterior mediastinum are marked with respectively a green, orange, purple and light blue line. The posterior mediastinum contains the esophagus (purple), inferior vena cava (red), the descending aorta (light red), sympathetic trunk, azygos veins and thoracic duct (not shown). English labels.
