Description:
Superior thoracic aperture and Thoracic Outlet Syndrome (TOS) . The superior thoracic aperture (apertura thoracis superior, also known as the thoracic inlet) is the opening superior of the thoracic cavity. Note: the thoracic inlet is clinically referred to as the thoracic outlet in case of TOS, while the anatomical thoracic outlet is the inferior thoracic aperture (inferior to the thoracic cavity). The Thoracic Outlet Syndrome is an umbrella term for a compression of nerves and/or blood vessels in one of the following locations: interscalene triangle, costoclavicular space, or coracopectoral space (from superior to inferior).
