Description:
Cross section of spinal cord. This transverse section shows the ventral and dorsal root, the dorsal root consists of afferent neurons and the ventral root of efferent neurons. Afferent (sensory) neurons detect sensory information from receptors, efferent (motor) neurons carry impulses or motor commands to muscles and glands. Interneurons are located inside the central nervous system and are in between afferent and efferent neurons. English labels.
