Description:
Axis: lateral aspect. The axis (C2) is the second cervical vertebra that together with the atlas (C1) provides rotation of the skull. Compared with other cervical vertebrae, the axis has two extra articulatory surfaces on both sides of the dens: facies articularis anterior & posterior. Latin labels.
